Summary:
In Indonesia's Aceh province in Tripa forest, many rain forests were burned intentionally to clear the land to plant oil palms. The orangutans were dying because the flame and the smoke consumed the trees and the orangutans have nowhere to leave. Even though the land was protected, the Aceh governor issued a permit for Indonesian palm oil firm PT Kallista Alam to expand some 1,600 hectare in Tripa forest. About a year, the permit was cancelled due to pressure from environmental groups to conserve forest.
Palm oil is a major cash crop in Indonesia, the world's largest producer of palm oil. Also, palm oil is the cooking oil of choice that many people used around the world. There are about 8.2 million hectare of land of palm oil, and in 2030, it might doubled and the country is prepared for it. Indonesia and Malaysia have $40 billion a year because of exporting palm oil. This palm oil crisis creates a major problem to the environment, it destroys the habitat of many critically endangered species such as orangutans, Sumatran tiger, and the Sumatran rhino, also, it brings more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Since the burning of trees, it releases a huge amount of greenhouse gas carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. It was stated that 558 million metric tons of carbon dioxide were released into the atmosphere in 2020. The plantation for palm oil must stop come from the courtesy of the UN Reducing Emission form Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) program, that stop developing countries to cut down trees.

Reflection:
After reading this article, i was relieved that the permit for expanding the hectares to plant palm oils because they burn trees and add carbon dioxide into the atmosphere which is not good for the environment. Destroying habitat for animals and building up carbon dioxide into the atmosphere was once again made by humans. Human activities has a consequence for every actions they make, and in the future, we might suffer terribly from our actions. There is always a way to stop human activities from harming the environment such as the article had stated. I hope that many permits that stated to hurt or to kill the environment should be cancelled or never again to be allowed.
